I know what you’re thinking. DOF again??? Well, it’s just such an easy way to make your subject pop out of the screen!
In our first photograph the flower almost, but not entirely, blends into the background. Current aperture: f/8. This is definitely not what we want. So we try again….

Now, at f/2.8 the background is a creamy green. Ahhh, much better.
