November 2010 Alaska Photo Workshop: Portrait Edition

This is going to be a fantastic little workshop!

This is just in time for the Thanksgiving and Christmas season and boy is this going to be fun.  We’ll be covering how to take informal portraits in a dimly lit area (Can you say middle of the winter in a dark house?).  Well, instead of a house we’ll be in a church with not much light but plenty of creativity and enthusiasm!  Can you feel it?

Hehe, I’m giddy just thinking about it.

We’ll also be covering how to shoot a wedding by yourself or with a second spitter, err, shooter. (Sorry, to much Seinfeld lately)

So, if you want to take better photographs of your family and friends this holiday season (That should be all of us – folks!) or how to shoot a wedding (Maybe you want to put a toe in the deep end of the pool?) be sure to sign up early because our last lighting workshop sold out!  More details below.

Details:

Rules:

  1. Bring your own camera / laptop gear.
  2. Bring your camera manual if you don’t know how to use your camera.
  3. Bring your own lunch or go to McDonalds.  :)

Gear to bring:

  • Camera. A dSLR is preferred but you could limp by on a point-n-shoot, although you won’t be able to accomplish as much.
  • Lenses/Flashes.
  • Tripod.
  • Laptop for post processing of the creative images you’ve produced.

  • how to get a new and different perspective on a subject

For our digital darkroom we’ll be using Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, and/or Gimp so if you have a laptop with software feel free to bring it along to walk through it with us.
